The Protea Hotel Keurbooms River, opened in 1998, is a modern villa style hotel with white fa�ade. The lobby area reflects the location of the hotel with rowing boats suspended from the ceiling and a wooden bridge bisecting the room. The hotel is in Plettenberg Bay, adjacent to the Keurbooms River and is five kilometers from Archer's Rock. The 61 guestrooms feature light, modern d�cor with wood furnishings and prints on the walls. All include air conditioning, televisions with satellite channels, coffee and tea making facilities, hair dryers and telephones.
At the hotel's Riverside Gallery Restaurant, guests can sample a country breakfast buffet, an � la carte lunch and dinner from either an � la carte menu or themed buffets during the summer months. The restaurant features carpeted floors covered with rugs, linen topped tables and wicker armchair style chairs and is also home to an art gallery for local artists. Guests can enjoy an early evening cocktail at the Sundowner Bar or on the River Deck. The hotel houses an outdoor swimming pool with a children's splash pool, surrounded by sun loungers. It also features a floodlit tennis court, table tennis, a pool table and a darts board. It offers complimentary parking, laundry facilities and a safe deposit box at the front desk. For those guests with business needs, the hotel provides conference rooms. Nearby attractions include the Monkey Land sanctuary, which is ten kilometers away and Robberg Nature Reserve, which is 15 kilometers away. Knysna Elephant Park, home to the world's southernmost elephants and Nelson's Bay Cave, where significant archaeological finds have been made, are both at an 18 kilometer distance. George is 110 kilometers away and Port Elizabeth is 230 kilometers away. Plettenberg Airport (PBZ) is 18 kilom eters from the hotel.
